General questions
SailorsDeck is a series of maritime knowledge cards designed to help you learn rules of the road at sea, navigation lights, signal flags and Baltic Sea wildlife. The cards are available as physical flashcards and as an interactive digital version.
Here you will find answers to the questions we receive most often.
SailorsDeck digital cards
SailorsDeck DIGI is an interactive learning environment where you can study with illustrated cards, test your knowledge and track your progress. The application includes seven card packs covering seamanship and Baltic Sea nature.
You can start using the app for free. Every pack contains five free trial cards, and there is a free practice exam. To use all cards in a pack and take the Admiral exam, you need to purchase the corresponding pack.
SailorsDeck physical cards
Our pocket-sized maritime learning cards help you learn rules at sea, recognise vessel navigation lights and signal flags, and discover Baltic Sea fish, birds, animals and plants. One side shows an illustrated question; the reverse provides a concise explanation.
Physical and digital cards use the same SailorsDeck learning material. The digital version adds interactive study methods and knowledge checks.
Physical and digital packs are separate products. They may be purchased individually or together. Buying together is less expensive, and larger quantities receive further discounts.
Learning
Select a card pack and begin studying. Look at the card, think of your answer, then turn it over. Rate how easy it was to recall: easy, normal, difficult, or not known at all.
Based on your ratings, the application offers difficult cards for review more frequently, helping you remember them.
A quick knowledge check lets you test the cards you have just studied. SailorsDeck is designed to help you learn, not to trick you with misleading questions.
Ranks illustrate your estimated learning progress in a particular card pack. Progress depends on what you have learned and on your knowledge-check results.
The exam is where you can put your knowledge to the test. Passing the Admiral exam earns you a certificate that you can print and display.
Congratulations if you have mastered a pack! Even well-learned material fades over time, so we recommend reviewing everything at least once a year. Once you know the rules, move on to navigation lights, then signal flags. There is always something new to learn.
Accounts and purchases
You can try the free cards without buying anything. A user account is required to access purchased cards and save learning results, so we can identify your purchases and progress.
You can also create a SailorsDeck account using an existing Apple or Google account.
Yes, you can use the same account to access purchased packs and learning results on different devices.
No, card packs are one-time purchases, not monthly subscriptions.
If a purchased pack does not open, first check that you are signed in to the correct account and that your internet connection works. If the problem persists, contact us with your purchase date and order number if possible.
In the mobile app, you can download card packs to study offline. An internet connection is required for initial sign-in, purchases and synchronisation. Synchronisation takes the most recent changes into account.
Technical questions
You can use SailorsDeck in a browser on a computer or phone. SailorsDeck is also available as an Android and iPhone application.
If the app does not work as expected, close and reopen it, check that you have the latest version and make sure your internet connection works. If the issue continues, describe what happened and send us a screenshot and your phone model if possible.
Learning results linked to your account are synchronised with the server. Progress made offline is synchronised when the connection returns.
Privacy and support
